Step 1: Rename Sound Files
Now, download all your song files that you want to be in MVC2.
When you are all finished, go to the “selfboot” folder you created and locate the program called “audacity-win-1.2.6.exe”. This freeware program will convert your mp3 files to .wav.
You can also use the free site so convert your mp3’s to wav format: http://media-convert.com
You can upload 1 song at a time and it will convert your mp3 to wav then host it so you can download it.
Once you have converted all your songs to .wav, Rename all you song files to ADX_S*** .
Here is the list of the song’s you can replace for your Custom MVC2
ADX_S000 – The Pirate Ship Stage
ADX_S010 – Desert
ADX_S020 – Inside the factory
ADX_S030 – Carnival Stage
ADX_S040 – Bridge stage
ADX_S050 – Blue Underground Cave
ADX_S060 – Clock Tower
ADX_S070 – Ice Boat Stage
ADX_S080 – Abyss 1
ADX_S090 – Abyss 2
ADX_S0A0 – Abyss 3
ADX_S0B0 – Training
ADX_HERE – Here comes a new challenger
ADX_OPEN – Intro music to the Characters (Music that shows all the characters when you start the game)
ADX_OVER – Game Over
ADX_STAF – Credits Screen
ADX_MENU – Menu Screen
ADX_WINS – Music after you beat a stage
ADX_CONT – Continue
ADX_RANK – Rank Screen
ADX_CAPL – Capcom logo
ADX_SELC- Character select screen
***Now once you have converted your songs to .wav and finally convert your songs to the proper ADX format, the volume will have been decreased alot. And if you proceed with the rest of this tutorial, when your songs play you might not barely be able to hear them. This is how to increase the volume of your .wav files.***
If you installed Audacity you can use that program to increase the volume or you can use a progran in windows
called Sound Recorder.
To use Sound Recorder click on the “STRAT” – “All Programs” – “Accessories” – “Entertainment” – “Sound Recorder”
Once that program is loaded. Open your .wav song file. Once you have done that click on “effects” – “Increase volume (by 25%)
Do that to each song about 3 or 4 times. You can keep doing it if you want it louder. When your done, go to “File” – “Save As”, and overwrite the current song that you are making louder.
Once you have renamed your song files, move them into your “adx” folder within your “selfboot” directory. ADXENCD will convert your .wav files into ADX files so that they will play on your Dreamcast.
Step 2: Convert & Loop Songs
Locate the installer provided in the “selfboot.zip” file called “DkZ Studio.exe” and install the program.. Once the install is finished load up the program. Now from the menu at the top pick: Tools – Multi ADX<->WAV (Multi ADX and WAV Converter), you can also press “ctrl + m”.
Next a window will pop up, under “Source Folder” navigate to your adx folder where your .wav file are located and press ok. Then make sure that in the drop down menu in “Source Folder” that the option “WAV -> ADX” is selected.
Then in the “Destination Folder” area, choose where you want your converted song’s to be placed, you can choose your adx folder again. Make sure that in the “Options” area that “Save ADX With Complete Loop From Start To End” is selected. That will make all your song’s loop for you, just select it anyway even if you do not wish to have a song loop because it is long enough or else you have to exclude the song’s that you don’t want to loop from your folder. It wont hurt anything to have a song loop even if it doesn’t need to.
Next just press “Start” and let the program convert and loop all your song’s for you. That’s it!
When the program finishes you may test the song’s out in the next step.
If you kept the song names the same as in the game throughout this whole process then you can click on the “rename.bat” script to automatically rename your ADX files to the needed .BIN extension. This needs to be done because your finished ADX files need to be renamed with the .BIN extension before you burn your custom mix. This script just automatically does it for you and saves you time from doing it by hand. If you do not know how to change the file extension then do this, open up a folder and select: “Tools – Folder Options – View” and uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types”. Then change the .adx to .bin and select “yes” when it ask’s you if you want to change the extension.
Step 3: Testing Song Files
Since you have DKZStudio installed you can use that program to listen to your song’s. Just double click on the adx file and it should use DKZStudio to open the song file, if not select the DKZStudio program when it asks you what program you want to open the file with. When the song loads make sure it say’s “repeat” in the black window of the program that show’s the song playing.
When you are satisfied with your song’s click on the “rename.bat” script to automatically rename your ADX files to the needed .BIN extension. This needs to be done because your finished ADX files need to be renamed with the .BIN extension before you burn your custom mix. This script just automatically does it for you and saves you time from doing it by hand.

Once you have renamed your song files, move them into your “adx” folder within your “selfboot” directory. ADXENCD will convert your .wav files into ADX files so that they will play on your Dreamcast.
Step 2: Convert Songs
Open up the DOS window by going to “STRAT” – “Run“, then in the window type in: cmd . Now your going to want to navigate to your “adx” folder within your selfboot directory. To do this type in:
cd\selfboot\adx
and hit enter, this should take you to the “adx” folder if you have followed the tutorial right.
Now to actually convert your songs by hand. In the DOS window type the below code:
adxencd Song.wav
(replace the “Song.wav” with the song name)
This will then convert your song to an ADX file. Then just repeat this for each song. If you plan to loop your song files you must write down the output number for each song that you want to loop. That number appears next to “ADX output sample:“. It will be around a 9 digit number right after the “:“. You might get an error that says, “input sound data file: ‘ADX_S***’ “cannot find the file “ADX_S***.wav” If this happens you probably just have a bad song file. Just re-download the song and convert it to .wav and try again.
Step 3: Looping Songs
After you have written the output number to loop your songs type in :
adxencd Song.wav Song.adx -lps0 -lpe123456789
(“Song.wav” is the song name, “Song.adx” is the output name, and replace “123456789″ with the output number you got for your song, this number appears next to “ADX output sample:“). Make sure there is a space between -lps0 and -lpe.
Once it’s done running you should test out your song’s in the next step. If you do not wish to do that just rename your “ADX_****.adx” to “ADX_****.bin”. If you do not wish to do this by hand just click on the “rename.bat” file inside your adx folder and it will automatically change the extension for you.
**NOTE**
-lps0 -lpe is “-” “l”(lowercase L) “p” “s” “0″(the number 0), same thing with -lpe**
Step 4: Testing Songs
Now would be a good idea to test your song file’s. Also, now you can test your looped song file’s as well. I have included in the selfboot.zip file a winamp plugin called “in_cube.dll“. Download Winamp and place this plugin inside of the “plugins” folder. Then just load up winamp and preview your song!
